How Batman Could Beat Marvel's Best Heroes, According To Reddit

Batman has a contingency plan for every member of the Justice League. Fans on Reddit debated what his plans would be for Marvel's heroes.

Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War #1 just referenced DC and Marvel in the same comic, the first sign of a Marvel/DC comics crossover since 2004. Similarly, Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers included DC and Marvel characters in the same movie. While these collaborations are a far cry from the direct Marvel/DC crossovers of yesteryear, they do suggest that more multiversal interactions may be imminent.

One particular crossover that fans are desperate to see is Batman strategizing about battles against Marvel's best heroes. Batman famously has contingency plans to defeat every member of the Justice League, so fans are eager to know how Batman would plan to take out Marvel heroes. Some Redditors have even written full, detailed stories based on that exact concept. Through a series of Reddit posts, fans have put together their ideas on how Batman would take on Marvel's heroes.

Daredevil and Batman have interacted in the past, which means there's a good chance that Batman has been working on a strategy to defeat him. While Daredevil's ability to navigate his blindness is impressive, Redditor elvnsword explains that "his reliance on sound and vibration is an exploitable weakness."

Their suggestion for Batman to use against Daredevil is a combination of gamma emissions and overpowering sound. Between the two, it would be difficult for Daredevil to get a sense of what's going on around him. While Daredevil still keeps his skill at fighting, ranged attacks would be harder to counter without sensory input, opening a path for Batman to incapacitate him.

If Deadpool really wanted to survive, his healing factor and fourth-wall-breaking skills would make him incredibly difficult for Batman to defeat. However, Redditor hashcheckin found a solution to this problem: "just murder the chatty b***h. he'll let it happen nine times out of ten." As they point out, he would probably let Batman kill him for the fun of it, as Deadpool's endured more brutal injuries than Batman would inflict.

This doesn't even necessarily go against Batman's no-kill rule, since, as girr0ckss explains, "when someone's relatively unkillable, it's not really murder to just shoot them until they stop." Without being limited to non-lethal methods, taking down Deadpool would be surprisingly easy. Fans looking for a canon version of this fight need look no further than Deadpool's Good Night arc.

Human Torch has a distinct advantage against Batman due to his abilities, but without them, he isn't much of a threat. While Human Torch's ability to defeat external threats varies across continuities, hashcheckin explains, "I've lost count of the number of times Johnny has been straight merked by things like fire hoses, handy snowdrifts, and buckets of sand."

Assuming Human Torch is able to defeat more basic obstacles, elvnsword thinks a Hadron setting on a cryogun would do the trick, as it removes the oxygen needed for a flame. Given that Batman and Captain America are fairly evenly matched in fighting abilities, Human Torch would be defeated in no time.

While in theory, Batman would never have the opportunity to fight Professor X directly, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness showed that after bypassing his psychic powers, Xavier dies easily. For Batman to eliminate Professor X, then, all he'd have to do is block his telepathic powers long enough to put him down.

Assuming their fight takes place in the Marvel Universe, hashcheckin notes that "anti-psionic tech comes in cereal boxes in the MU, which is how writers usually justified Chuck being taken off the board." In the DC universe, Lt_Rooney provides an alternative through Jervis Tetch: "Once close the Mad Hatter's equipment can be modified to de-activate Xavier's telepathy temporarily. Xavier must be contained using Tetch's equipment or [rendered] comatose."

Given all the chaos Wanda can cause plus her flip-flopping morality, Batman would be wise to come up with a contingency plan for her. But as hashcheckin says, "if she's on her game, though, and especially if she's being allowed to use her powers at anything close to her potential, there really isn't any plan that is guaranteed success."

The best suggestion given for taking down Wanda is dealing with her emotions. As RocketTasker explains, "Wanda seems to be more powerful when emotionally distraught, so figure out what’s wrong and calm her down." Many fans have argued that Wanda's villain arc would never have happened if the other Avengers had taken her grief seriously and tried to help her, so Batman's best weapon in a fight against Wanda is likely simple compassion.

While Spider-Man rarely turns to the dark side, he would be pretty hard to stop if he did. If he was forced to become evil, Batman would need to be very cautious in his approach, as elvnsword suggests: "Strong, fast and nearly unstoppable as a combatant, do not engage, but rather gas with Goblin gas to disable spider sense, and consider Ethyl Chloride as an emergency fix. Disable, he is far stronger than he appears."

However, if he was just on the other side of a battle, he is easily distractable. Redditor hashcheckin suggests Batman should create a problem that Peter "can interpret as being 'his' problem, like a member of his rogues' gallery causing issues, [as] Peter will drive himself nuts trying to deal with it." Hopefully, a distraction will be strong enough for Batman to covertly take him down.

Black Panther is a difficult enemy to take down, given that he has amplified strength, advanced technology, and political power. Redditors elvnsword and RocketTasker focus on Batman's need to weaken Black Panther's Vibranium tech and find a way to remove the abilities he gained through the Heart-Shaped Herb.

These strategies would surely help tactically, but T'Challa's political power would be harder to fight against. This is why hashcheckin suggests attacking Wakanda itself by "funding a rebellion or quietly inciting civil unrest back home, both of which have proven to be really easy in recent comics." If Batman really needed to hit Black Panther where it hurt, Wakanda would be his kryptonite.

As TheNaiveSkeptic says, Thor is "arguably the hardest Avenger to develop a countermeasure to." Despite that, fans have suggestions. To take Mjolnir out of the fight, elvnsword suggests using a boom tube to separate Thor from his hammer. Others, like RocketTasker suggest using fear toxin to make Thor believe himself unworthy of his powers.

However, as Second-Creative says, "Batman ain't a fan of 'can be' and 'may be' on stuff like this, so he'd still prep that countermeasure 'just in case.'" Batman needs to be fast and smart, using every advantage at his disposal. Or, if all else fails, try something silly, like ClownPrinceOfLime's suggestion to build "a Renaissance faire beer garden ... Batman just waits for him to pass out before loading him up in a rocket and blasting him towards Asgard for Odin to deal with."

Hulk is a tricky one for Batman to take down because he is practically invincible. Plan One, as suggested by elvnsword and ClownPrinceOfLime, is to transform him back into Banner (through specialized gasses or a cuteness overload), and then keep him sedated.

Should that fail, the immediate solution is to minimize damage, with RocketTasker suggesting "use the Batmobile and Batwing to remotely alternate attacks and draw him into an unpopulated area." In lieu of other alternatives, go for TheNaiveSkeptic's plan of "Boom Tube-ing to a barren rock, or borrow Clark’s phantom zone projector."

The battle that fans want to see most is how Batman would take down his closest analog from the Marvel Universe, Iron Man. Step one: take out the money. As hashcheckin says, "Tony's arrogant, has a lot of enemies, and tends to not pay a lot of attention to what's going on at his company, so he'd be very vulnerable to a Waynetech hostile takeover."

From there, it's a matter of hacking and personal combat. Redditor ClownPrinceOfLime suggests "Batman would put in a 'conscience' into JARVIS that can’t be over-ridden and will lock the Iron Man suits when Tony tries to take an immoral action." Stop the suit and, as Lt_Rooney says, "Without the armor he is an ordinary man."
