Pharmaceutical manufacturer uses gyratory lab sieve to remove coarse particles

A major pharmaceutical manufacturer needed to sieve and deagglomerate 1-kg batches of pharmaceutical powders in 5 minutes through US 45 or finer mesh.

The problem? Most of the samples have agglomerates that require removal of coarse particles.

The solution? VORTI-SIV Model RBF-10 gyratory lab sieve uses a combination of variable speed frequency control, an SFA ultrasonic deblinding kit, and stainless steel disks to break up agglomerates. Among the benefits:

Minimal cleanup and product changeover. Model RBF-10 uses only two stainless steel sanitary product contact parts. This enables fast changeover. An optional removable dome or scoop feed cover supports dust-free sieving.

Deagglomerating sieve. Four highly polished, 2-in. dia stainless steel disks on the screen surface break the agglomerates. The RBF-10 mechanical gyration causes the disks to randomly impact agglomerates, reducing all lumps to fine powder.

SFA deblinding kit. A single phase 110/220 volt autotuned ultrasonic processor with a screen-mounted transducer supplies additional high-frequency energy. Screen blinding of the pharmaceutical powders is eliminated even with such difficult powders as magnesium or calcium stearate.

Variable speed. The RBF-10 uses a 3450 rpm electric motor. A digital frequency inverter enables the mechanical vibration to be controlled from 800 to 3450RPM. This feature improves the processing efficiency of each product sample.
